Being able to work successfully in a team can be one of the biggest factors affecting an individual's career progression. But, working in teams isn't always easy. When different personalities with different areas of strengths (and weaknesses) are all put together, interesting dynamics can emerge.

I work a lot with organizations around helping their teams gel. Sometimes this means teams just aren't getting along when I arrive on the scene, but more often than not, teams have just hit a plateau and they need a shot of adrenaline to help them achieve a whole new level of success. Just like a marriage, teams are about relationships. It is important to take the time to nurture this relationship if you want it to work.

I would like to share an article I wrote for CM&E on 'Building Teams That Gel.' If you want to get more from your team to make 2013 your strongest year yet, take a look at my Teams that Gel workshop and also my Team Retreat, both of which involve a team coaching element.

Enjoy the ride!

What Women Know About Leadership That Men Don't

I wanted to share this interesting article with you from the Harvard Business Review. "No single challenge has been greater for me as a leader than learning how to take better care of the people I lead, and to create a safe, supportive space in which they can thrive. Like most men I know, I grew up with very little modeling around empathy - the ability to recognize, experience and be sensitive to what others are feeling."
